Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Milvia Tellez, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. I am passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care across the lifespan. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Florida International University and completed my Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at the University of Miami. I have been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2017 and work with children (ages 6+), adolescents, adults, and older adults.

I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management (both controlled and non-controlled), and supportive psychotherapy when appropriate. I specialize in ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and child and adolescent psychiatry. My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply patient-centered. I believe that meaningful care starts with truly understanding you — your story, your challenges, and your goals — and building a plan together that helps you feel better and function at your best.

My approach to therapy

I pride myself on creating a space where patients feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely understood. Many of the individuals and families I work with share that they are able to open up quickly, which is something I value deeply — especially when discussing topics that can feel vulnerable. My background in both pediatrics and psychiatry allows me to approach care through a developmental and family-centered lens, which is especially helpful when working with children and adolescents. I practice with a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach, always honoring each person’s unique experiences and perspective.

In my practice, I take a comprehensive and individualized approach to care. I begin with a thoughtful psychiatric evaluation so I can understand the full picture of what you’re experiencing. If medication is part of your treatment, I will guide you through that process clearly and collaboratively, making sure you feel informed and comfortable every step of the way. I also incorporate supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and practical strategies to help you better understand your symptoms and build tools you can use in your daily life. My goal is to make treatment feel approachable, realistic, and tailored specifically to you.

What you can expect from me

Your first visit with me is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what brought you in, review your medical and mental health history, and explore what you would like to improve. I will share my clinical impressions and work with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs and lifestyle. My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path forward.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and child and adolescent psychiatric conditions. I also support individuals navigating trauma-related concerns, LGBTQ+ mental health, sleep difficulties, mood and personality-related symptoms, and more.

If you’re looking for a provider who is warm, attentive, and committed to helping you feel better in a way that makes sense for your life, I would be honored to work with you.
