Great to meet you!

My own positive experiences as a client are what motivated me to become a therapist. I learned to process past painful experiences, connect more fully with my emotions, and show up more authentically and with more joy in my relationships. In addition to my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and general clinical training, I have additional training in multiculturally competent approaches; transpersonal/spiritual experiences; LGBTQ+ concerns; and using creative arts, dreamwork, and play in therapy. I've been lucky enough to receive top-ranked formal education across several academic domains, and lucky enough to have also received valuable informal education through a variety of jobs, relationships, and participation in the arts locally. I'm always learning. I enjoy diverse human stories and supporting people excavating their own personal truths toward greater freedom.

My approach to therapy

Has anyone asked you how you are lately? Like, really asked you and wanted to know with genuine care and curiosity? When is the last time you felt truly treasured by and connected to your family, friends, or... yourself?

Therapy is a place to experience that level of care to help you return to yourself, so you can go out into the world with renewed verve and clarity. Rich conversations in the therapeutic space can enrich us and help us remember who we are.

My approach to therapy is relational and compassionate. I get especially excited about working with creatives, those who identify as Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), those seeking healing from past difficult circumstances, and those seeking to improve their relationship with self. I often work with high achievers who look okay on the outside, but who on the inside feel a bit lost or overwhelmed. I am passionate about supporting all my clients as they process personal and cultural trauma; develop increased self-trust; and learn once again to access peace and joy. It's not my job to give advice. It's my job to help you better hear yourself and find your way forward.

What you can expect from me

Clients usually leave sessions with me reporting less anxiety, less sense of being lost, more hopefulness, greater self-knowledge, and greater self-compassion. Of course, therapy can also bring up difficult emotions, but sessions are a safe place to work through those difficult feelings in the context of a supportive relationship rather than trying to do it all alone. Here clients can experience processing emotions and events in a judgment-free and caring environment with less overwhelm and more support. Remember, "We're all just walking each other home." ~ R.D.
