Great to meet you!

Therapy doesn’t have to be about being told what you’re doing wrong, but it also doesn’t have to be a place where someone simply tells you everything will be okay. Sometimes you need support and encouragement. Sometimes you need someone to help you see a pattern you haven’t noticed. And sometimes you need someone to kindly call you out when you’re getting in your own way. I believe there is a place for all of those things in therapy.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, stress, low self-worth, life transitions, relationship concerns, and emotional regulation difficulties.

My goal is both insight and change. I want you to better understand yourself, but I also want therapy to help you actually do something differently when you leave the session. I believe your values, beliefs, culture, and spirituality can also be meaningful sources of strength when they are important to you.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. You just have to be willing to start somewhere.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, genuine, and individualized. I don’t believe there is one right way to do therapy, so I adjust my approach based on the person I’m working with and what they need. Some clients benefit from structure and concrete goals, while others need more space to process, build insight, or regain confidence. I’m collaborative when collaboration is needed and direct when directness is helpful.

My work draws from CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma-focused approaches, with a psychodynamic lens. This allows us to work with what is happening in your life right now while also exploring the experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be influencing how you think, feel, and respond today.

I’m not afraid to gently challenge you when I think something may be keeping you stuck, but I’ll do so with respect and without judgment. My goal is to help you understand yourself, identify what is keeping you stuck, develop practical tools, and make meaningful changes that actually fit your life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to decide whether I’m the right therapist for you. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping will change, and what has been going on in your life.

I’ll ask questions about your current concerns as well as some background information that may help me understand the bigger picture. You won’t be expected to tell me everything about yourself or your entire history in one session. We’ll go at a pace that makes sense for you.

You can also expect a conversation rather than an interrogation. I’ll explain how I work, answer questions you have, and begin identifying where we may want to focus. Depending on what you need, we may start with practical strategies right away or spend more time understanding what’s been happening.

Most importantly, you don’t have to know exactly what you need from therapy before you come in. We can figure that out together.
