Great to meet you!

Hi my name is Miranda Jones, and I started MCJ Counseling this past June (mcjcounseling.com) so that I could make a space for the clients that I have a deep heart for, those who experience anxiety. This experience is an area I wanted to specialize in because I have seen it be one where many feel trapped, stuck, and with no hope or relief. I have worked with those who experience depression, PTSD, self-image and eating disorders, grief, toxic shame, perfectionism and more and each of those experiences always seems to have a little anxiety added to them. A little about me is, I graduated from a private college in Dallas called Dallas Baptist University with my bachelors and masters in Psychology and Professional Counseling. I went on to work in a Partial Hospitalization Program during my associateship where I was trained in emotionally focused therapy, CBT and DBT, crisis intervention, family and group therapy, attachment work, and then I-CBT, IFS, ERPT and Mindfulness and grounding skills and techniques for those who became highly anxious. Whatever you're going through, I would love to walk through this with you from a lens of compassion and no judgment, and with the knowledge of ways that I have seen be helpful in navigating life's hardest experiences.

My approach to therapy

My mindset in the counseling room, is primarily through a cognitive behavioral therapy lens. So I will be looking at your thought processes, your emotions, your behaviors and how all of those are interacting with the current experience you're having. I'm here to help connect puzzle pieces and also process those puzzle pieces so that it is a cathartic experience for you. I specialize in those experiencing high anxiety, obsessional compulsive disorder, and attachment style. I also am trained in Prepare and Enrich premarital counseling and am currently being trained in marital therapy through The Gottman Institute.

What you can expect from me

You can expect to leave a session heard, seen, known and understood as well as challenged and inspired. My desire is for you is to grow in vulnerability, understanding of yourself, others around you, and feel well equipped to handle any emotional situation that comes your way in this life. Or in other words, build resilience. I love to provide you with a challenge of the week at the end of our sessions and handouts that can help tangibly grasp some topics we talk about in order to work towards your overarching therapeutic goals.
