Great to meet you!

A lot of people don’t reach out for therapy because things are falling apart—they reach out because their mind won’t slow down, their stress feels constant, or they’ve been trying to manage everything on their own for too long.

I’m Miriam, a Licensed Professional Counselor providing therapy in both English and Spanish. I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, OCD, ADHD, depression, trauma, stress, and major life transitions. Many of the people I work with feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, worry, or emotional overwhelm, even when they’re doing everything they can to stay on top of life.

My goal is to help you understand what’s happening in a clear, practical way and give you tools that actually make day-to-day life feel more manageable.

My approach to therapy

My approach is structured, collaborative, and focused on helping you make meaningful change through both understanding and action. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based strategies, and solution-focused techniques.

A significant part of my work involves helping clients identify patterns of anxious thinking, avoidance, compulsive behaviors, or emotional reactivity that keep them feeling stuck. For clients with OCD or anxiety in particular, we focus on learning how to respond differently to intrusive thoughts and distress so that symptoms become more manageable over time.

Therapy with me is both supportive and goal-oriented. We take time to understand what you’re experiencing, and then we work step by step on practical strategies that help reduce distress and increase your sense of control and clarity in daily life.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll talk through what’s been feeling most difficult and what you would like to be different. You don’t need to have everything organized or fully explained before starting therapy. We’ll figure that out together at a pace that feels comfortable.

Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, caught in overthinking loops, struggling with OCD patterns, or exhausted from trying to keep up with daily responsibilities while managing internal stress. Over time, clients often notice reduced intensity of anxious thoughts, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of clarity and control in how they respond to stress.

For children and adolescents, this work often includes building coping skills, emotional awareness, and support for family communication. For adults, it often focuses on breaking cycles of worry, compulsive thinking, and avoidance that interfere with daily life.
