Great to meet you!

Missy is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 10 years of nursing experience and psychiatric training from National University. She takes a holistic, individualized approach to care — combining evidence-based medication management with therapy to treat the whole person, not just symptoms. Missy specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and life transitions, and is fluent in English and Tigrinya.

My approach to therapy

You're an active partner in your care, not a passive recipient of prescriptions. Missy practices thoughtful, conservative medication management with shared decision-making — walking you through risks, benefits, and alternatives before deciding on anything together. Beyond medication, she incorporates CBT, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation to help build coping skills and lasting resilience. Lifestyle factors like sleep, nutrition, stress, and social support are treated as essential parts of your treatment, not afterthoughts. You can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered — never pressured or rushed.

"My goal is for every patient to feel informed and in control of their care — never pressured, never rushed, and never just handed a prescription."

What you can expect from me

Your first visit is a comprehensive one-hour evaluation where Missy takes the time to understand your current symptoms, history, goals, and what matters most to you. From there, you'll build a personalized treatment plan together. Session frequency typically ranges from weekly to monthly depending on your needs and where you are in treatment. Missy provides both therapy and medication management, and if you're already working with a therapist, she's happy to collaborate with them on the medication side.
