Great to meet you!

Misty Abbott is a dedicated licensed therapist with more than 20 years of experience working in diverse roles across the mental health field. Since becoming fully licensed in 2012, Misty has committed herself to providing compassionate, high-quality care to individuals, couples, and families seeking clarity, healing, and emotional balance. Her advanced training in mindfulness, grief counseling, and trauma-informed practices allows her to support clients through some of life’s most difficult moments with skill and empathy.

Misty specializes in anxiety symptom management and is passionate about teaching evidence-based tools that empower individuals to take back control of their lives. She believes therapy should honor the uniqueness of each person, which is why her approach is eclectic, flexible, and tailored to the specific needs of every client. Whether someone is navigating stress, relationship challenges, loss, or long-standing emotional patterns, Misty meets them with warmth, curiosity, and a grounded presence.Clients consistently describe Misty as caring, approachable, and deeply easy to talk to—a foundation she believes is essential for meaningful therapeutic work. Beyond the office, Misty brings creativity and nature-based inspiration into her healing philosophy. She enjoys art therapy, music of all kinds, gardening, and spending time with animals. As a certified equine mental health professional through EAGALA, she incorporates the powerful connection between humans and horses to support emotional insight and growth. Misty is able to offer equine therapy locally, some face to face sessions locally and Telehealth.

My approach to therapy

As a therapist, I take an eclectic approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities based on what each individual truly needs. If you thrive with accountability and structured homework, I provide that. If you’re looking for someone to simply listen and hold space, I’m here. And if you want to explore your past to uncover deeper roots of what you’re experiencing, I can guide that journey as well.

In the traditional office setting, I often incorporate art as a tool for self-expression and journaling as a way to help you connect with your inner voice.

Outside the office, in more nontraditional but still face-to-face settings, I may integrate nature or horses into the therapeutic process—offering a unique, grounded perspective and a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you.

What you can expect from me

I believe the most important part of therapy is taking the time to truly get to know one another and build a strong, healthy therapeutic relationship. Clients have often shared that I am easy to talk to, that I genuinely care about the people I work with, and that I’m willing to go the extra mile for those who are ready to help themselves.

I value open, honest communication and take confidentiality very seriously. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable exploring even the difficult or vulnerable parts of your story.
