Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Misty and use she/her pronouns. I'm a former gifted old soul young at heart divorced remarried perimenopausal mother of one and grandmother of one so far. I think of myself as willing to try at least once and probably more creatively than others are comfortable.

I am your regular type of counselor with all the required education, licensing, and training needed to work in Arizona with adults individually starting at age 18 to infinity.

I specialize in brain and body because they are linked - biologically, emotionally, spiritually...all the 'allys. I have additional training (because I identify as a geeky nerd) in areas of brains (said like a zombie) & nervous system, learning/ relearning, ADHD, autism, Anxiety/ OCD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and t/Trauma.

My approach to therapy

I hope my clients feel seen, heard, and supported no matter the concern that brings them into counseling. I use a lot of humor and nosiness to learn about you and from you. I try to walk the talk so I share any lessons that might be helpful from my experience or from other clients.

My approach to therapy is maybe unpopular, but I don't believe it is meant to be forever. You are starting at a painful/ stuck spot. I want you to learn and heal what you need, taking as long as you need, and then go live until you need help again later. We all need help from time to time.

What you can expect from me

We start by deciding how and where to meet for the intake appointment, e.g. virtual or in-person, telehealth or office/ community setting. I can meet clients in a variety of locations across the valley. We use 1-3 sessions to get to know each other, to help me understand what is or has been happening in your life, for appropriate assessments/ evaluations, and to make a diagnosis if one fits. By session 4 or 5 we decide what are your goals, when to meet, and how we will work together. I bring the evidenced-based skills and strategies to the table (nerd remember *see therapy approaches listed below), and you bring the wisdom you've gained in life about what may or may not work to move forward.

Finally, my agenda is for you to leave with something that helps or comforts at the end of each session. It would be wise to fire me if that doesn't happen at least three times.
