Great to meet you!

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults experiencing anxiety, burnout, overwhelm, relationship and attachment concerns, perfectionism, people pleasing, and major life transitions. I often work with people who are thoughtful, capable, and used to handling a lot on their own, but who have reached a point where the ways they’ve learned to cope aren’t working as well anymore.

I earned my MA in Counseling from Northwestern University and have worked in a variety of clinical and community settings. Before becoming a therapist, much of my work centered around mindfulness, yoga, and trauma-informed care, including developing mindfulness programming and teaching trauma-informed yoga in non-profit and correctional settings. Those experiences continue to shape the way I think about the connection between our emotions, relationships, bodies, and nervous systems.

I’m especially interested in helping people understand themselves more deeply—not because there’s something about them that needs to be fixed, but because understanding why we feel and respond the way we do can create more room for choice. My hope is that therapy helps you feel more comfortable being yourself and more able to build a life and relationships that reflect what actually matters to you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is relational, curious, and collaborative. I draw from attachment-based therapy, parts work, mindfulness, and somatic approaches, but I don’t believe therapy needs to feel overly clinical or like we’re following a formula. We’ll talk about what’s happening in your life while also paying attention to the patterns, emotions, relationships, and experiences underneath it.

I’m interested in understanding why the things you struggle with make sense. Anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, shutting down, or trying to stay in control often developed for a reason. Instead of judging those patterns or trying to get rid of them as quickly as possible, we can get curious about what they’ve been doing for you and whether you still need them in the same way.

Some sessions may involve talking through something that happened during the week. Other times, we might slow down and notice an emotion, physical sensation, or part of you that has a strong reaction to something. We can also work practically with boundaries, communication, coping skills, or a decision you’re trying to make.

You don’t need to show up to therapy a certain way. There’s room for humor, uncertainty, frustration, silence, and not knowing where to start. We’ll figure out together what is most useful for you.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin to understand what’s bringing you to therapy. I’ll ask about what’s been going on recently, what you’d like help with, and some of the experiences and relationships that have shaped you. We’ll also talk about what you’re hoping might feel different as a result of therapy.

You don’t need to come prepared with a perfectly organized story or a list of goals. It’s completely okay if all you know is that you’re overwhelmed, something isn’t working, or you don’t want to keep feeling the way you’ve been feeling. We can start with what you know and go from there.

I’ll ask questions and guide the conversation, but I also want the session to feel like a conversation rather than an interview. There is no expectation that you share everything about yourself in the first hour. We can move at a pace that allows us to build trust and gives me a real understanding of who you are.

Toward the end of the session, we’ll talk about what stood out, what you’d like us to focus on moving forward, and any questions you have about working together. My goal is for you to leave with a clearer sense of what therapy with me might look like and whether it feels like a good fit.
