Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Monica! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and major life changes. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have experience working in private practice, community settings, and with higher levels of mental health needs. I especially enjoy working with people who have felt misunderstood, judged, or like traditional therapy has not quite worked for them. My goal is to give you a space where you can show up as yourself while we work toward changes that actually make sense for your life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is conversational, collaborative, and individualized because I don’t believe therapy should look exactly the same for everyone. I primarily use DBT, along with mindfulness, expressive and creative approaches, motivational interviewing, and other tools depending on what works best for you. I balance validation with gentle challenge, so there will be times when I support you and times when I help you look at something from a different perspective. Most importantly, we work at your pace and build therapy around your goals, needs, personality, and real life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know each other and figuring out what you want from therapy. I’ll ask about what brought you in, what has been going on in your life, what has or hasn’t helped before, and what you would like to work toward. You do not have to tell me your entire life story or dive into your hardest experiences on day one—we can take our time. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling like I understand why you’re here, you have a voice in where we go next, and this is a space where you can be yourself.
