Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome. My name is Monica Freeman-Bennefield, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Ohio. I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their healing journey.

I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and have experience working with adults facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and stress related to family and caregiving roles. My professional background includes work in community mental health and outpatient settings, supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

My therapeutic approach is client-centered, collaborative, and strengths-based. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing, while tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, values, and goals. I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel actively involved and supported in the process.

Above all, I strive to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them with empathy, patience, and care. Whether you are navigating a difficult season or seeking personal growth and emotional wellness, it is an honor to support you on your journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based. I believe therapy works best when clients feel safe, respected, and actively involved in the process. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace.

I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing to help clients gain insight, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful change. Sessions are tailored to each client’s unique needs, goals, values, and life circumstances.

I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, and stress related to family or caregiving roles. I focus on helping clients strengthen emotional awareness, develop healthy coping strategies, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build resilience.

Above all, I meet clients where they are and walk alongside them with empathy, patience, and respect, supporting growth, healing, and emotional wellness.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect the first session to be welcoming, supportive, and focused on understanding their needs and goals. I strive to create a calm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to share at their own pace.

During the initial session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore current concerns, review relevant background information, and identify what you hope to gain from counseling. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, learn about my approach, and determine whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.

Together, we may begin identifying initial goals, strengths, and areas of focus, while prioritizing stabilization, emotional safety, and support. There is no pressure to share everything at once. My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, and supported, with a clearer sense of direction and next steps.

Above all, the first session is about building trust and creating a foundation for meaningful and collaborative work moving forward.
