Great to meet you!

I'm Monica, a Licensed Professional Counselor. My path to becoming a therapist has been a rich and varied one, starting as an elementary school teacher and evolving through various social support roles before leading me to the profound work of counseling. Over the years, I've been honored to support families through significant transitions and the complexities of parenting, as well as individuals navigating crisis, interpersonal violence, and the aftermath of traumatic experiences. My extensive training in psychotherapy, trauma, play therapy and neurofeedback has prepared me to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.

My approach to therapy

I believe that within each person lies inherent strength, and I strive to create a warm and welcoming space where you can uncover and cultivate these inner resources. Regardless of the challenges you're facing, be it trauma, relationship conflict, parenting difficulties, anxiety, depression, exploring spirituality, or seeking meaning, my approach is rooted in collaboration and is always client-centered, allowing you to guide the pace of our work. I place a strong emphasis on helping you understand the connection between your brain and body and developing practical skills to regulate your nervous system. Recognizing that each of us has a unique story shaped by our experiences, I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can fully be yourself.

What you can expect from me

Our initial session will be a chance for us to connect and for you to share what has brought you to counseling and what you hope to achieve. My priority is to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere where you feel at ease sharing your experiences. Together, we will begin to explore your story and identify the strengths you already possess. I look forward to starting this journey with you and working collaboratively to help you heal and develop the strategies needed to create the life you desire.
