Great to meet you!

Life may look “fine” from the outside—yet internally, things feel more complex as you age. You may be navigating health changes, sleep problems, grief, life changes you didn’t expect, shifting family roles, divorce, cognitive concerns, or the quiet question: What does this next chapter look like for me?

I’m Monika Downey, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with adults of all ages, particularly in midlife and beyond. My background includes health psychology in medical settings, traumatic stress, life adjustment, performance and executive coaching.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, direct, and practical. I believe therapy should offer clarity and momentum—not endless conversation without direction. Together, we identify what matters most to you and build a plan that supports those goals.

What you can expect from me

  • Evidence-based, practical care We focus on what you need now. Sessions are purposeful, grounded in research, and designed to help you move forward.
  • A clear plan of action From the start, we’ll clarify:
    • What’s getting in the way
    • What “better” actually looks like
    • What steps will help you get there
    • How we’ll track progress

Therapy should never feel like wandering in the dark. You’ll always know our focus and direction, as we will work collaboratively to find the approach that fits you best. I believe the answers are already within you—my role is to help bring them into clear focus.
