Our founder and CEO, Monique Floyd is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Newport News, Virginia. She created EMORY Center for Counseling and Wellness to assist with healing from trauma and managing an array of life transitions during the journey of self-discovery. Mrs. Floyd believes in empowering others to acknowledge and accept feelings associated with trauma, anxiety, depression, conflict, communication barriers, relationships, occupational goals, and self-esteem to list a few.

My approach to therapy

Mrs. Floyd studied at Norfolk State University where she received her Master of Social Work. She began serving children and adults in a variety of settings ranging from, offices, schools, family residence, and residential facilities. She has assisted clients who seek treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, stress, relationships, conflict, occupational goals, behavioral issues, ADHD, postpartum and general life transitions.

Mrs. Floyd approaches issues from a strength-based perspective and utilizes techniques from evidenced based modalities to assist clients in reaching goals. Mrs. Floyd seeks to teach skills you will use to improve quality of your rediscovered self and make realistic changes that will last.
