Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. My name is Dr. Monique Jones, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed School Counselor with over eight years of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and families in educational and clinical settings.

I earned my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Holy Cross, along with master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling and in Teaching from Xavier University of Louisiana. Throughout my career my focus has been helping individuals navigate a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges.

My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, self-esteem, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief and loss, emotional regulation, and academic or career-related challenges. I and am particularly passionate about supporting individuals as they build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful change in their lives.

My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I believe that each person is the expert on their own experiences, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and person-centered techniques, I tailor treatment to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.

Overall, I believe that healing is not simply about reducing symptoms—it is about creating a life that aligns with your values, strengths, and aspirations. My goal is to help clients establish their own healing standard by fostering self-awareness, resilience, and lasting personal growth. Seeking support takes courage, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients on their journey toward healing, growth, and overall well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe that meaningful change occurs when individuals feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment. My role is not to tell clients what to do, but to help them gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, and build on the strengths they already possess.

I take a holistic and trauma-informed approach, recognizing that emotional well-being is influenced by a variety of factors, including personal experiences, relationships, culture, environment, and life transitions. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients can process challenges, increase self-awareness, and move toward their personal goals at a pace that feels comfortable and sustainable.

My work is informed by evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Person-Centered Therapy. Depending on a client’s needs, we may focus on identifying unhelpful thought patterns, strengthening self-compassion, developing practical coping skills, improving emotional regulation, enhancing communication, or building resilience during difficult life circumstances.

Regardless of the concern that brings someone to therapy, my goal is to help clients feel empowered, capable, and equipped to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I view therapy as a partnership—one that honors each client’s story while helping them move toward healing, growth, and a greater sense of well-being.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session to be a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where we begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. My primary goal during our initial meeting is to get to know you—not just the challenges that brought you to therapy, but also your strengths, values, experiences, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process.

During the first session, we will discuss your current concerns, relevant personal history, and any symptoms or life stressors you may be experiencing. I will also answer any questions you have about therapy and collaborate with you to identify goals that feel meaningful and realistic for your unique situation.

I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable, respected, and empowered from the very beginning. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels right for you while establishing a foundation of trust and safety.

By the end of the first session, clients often leave with a clearer understanding of their concerns, an initial plan for treatment, and a sense of direction for our work together. Most importantly, my hope is that you leave feeling heard, supported, and confident that you do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

Most importantly, I believe healing is a journey, not a destination. The first session is simply the beginning of that journey—one focused on growth, self-discovery, and creating meaningful change.
