Great to meet you!

I served 30 years in the United States Army — including combat deployments — before becoming a licensed therapist. That wasn't a career pivot. It was a calling. I know what it feels like to carry things you can't explain to people who weren't there. I also know that those same people are often the ones you love most.I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider, serving individuals, couples, and groups across South Carolina — in person in Saint Matthews and online statewide. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, depression, and anxiety, with a particular focus on veterans, military families, and adults navigating the long aftermath of difficult childhoods.I'm trained in Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) — a pattern where emotional needs go unmet in childhood and quietly shape everything from relationships to self-worth to how you handle stress decades later. Many of my clients didn't grow up in crisis homes, but still find themselves struggling to connect, feel, or be fully present. That's often CEN. And it's treatable.I accept most major insurance plan. Sliding scale fees are available, and I facilitate tele-health sessions for insured clients across South Carolina.

My approach to therapy

I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — tailored to what you actually need, not a rigid protocol. My approach is also grounded in motivational interviewing and person-centered principles, meaning I follow your lead while helping you build real insight and real skills.I believe the patterns that once helped you survive — staying on guard, shutting down emotionally, keeping people at arm's length — made sense at the time. Therapy isn't about blaming yourself for those patterns. It's about figuring out which ones still serve you and which ones are now getting in your way. For couples, I'm a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator, working with premarital and married couples on communication, conflict, and building stronger foundations — not just putting out fires. I also work with adolescents and teens when stress, behavioral challenges, or emotional dysregulation are affecting school, family, and self-image.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a conversation, not an intake form. I want to understand what's bringing you in right now — not just your history, but what you're hoping feels different six months from now.I'll ask questions, but I'll also listen. We'll talk about what's been tried before, what's worked, and what hasn't. By the end, you'll have a sense of whether this feels like a fit, and I'll have a clear enough picture to share what I think would help and why.For veterans and military families: you don't have to explain the culture, translate the acronyms, or defend why you're struggling. I've been there. I've lived it for three decades. You can start wherever you are.Sessions are available in person at my Saint Matthews, SC location or via secure tele-health — available to clients throughout South Carolina. Scheduling is flexible, including options outside standard business hours. Reach out and let's see if this is the right fit.
