Great to meet you!

“A warm, real therapist and proud mother, born and raised in India and shaped by life on three continents. I help children, adults, older adults, and couples become the authors of their own stories, using narrative, feminist, and IFS-informed approaches alongside CBT and mindfulness.”

I’m a therapist who believes you are the expert on your own life. My job is to walk beside you as you find your voice, set healthy boundaries, and learn to love and nurture yourself.

I’m an LPCC-S in Ohio with a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I’m completing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. For seven years I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and couples, in person and by telehealth, in community mental health and outpatient settings.

Before counseling, I was a teacher and school administrator. Born and raised in India, I lived and worked in Uganda for more than fifteen years before moving to Ohio in 2017 to train as a counselor. That journey gave me a multicultural perspective and showed me how deeply culture and family shape our stories. I’m proud to be a mother, and my own experience of fighting cancer deepened my compassion for people facing trauma and questions of meaning.

My approach to therapy

My work is multiculturally informed. I honor your culture, identity, and background as central to who you are, not as something separate from therapy. I draw on narrative and feminist approaches to help you step back from the stories that have been holding you down and write ones that reflect who you really are. My work is also IFS-informed, which means I help you get to know the different parts of yourself, including the protective ones, and approach them with curiosity and compassion rather than criticism. I pair this with practical tools from CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy, so you leave sessions with realistic goals and ways to reach them.

I’m real with my clients. I’ll meet you where you are, share about myself when it helps, and work to level the power difference in the room. I’ll laugh with you, cry with you, and hold your hand as you make the change you want.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know each other. You don’t need to have anything figured out or know exactly what to say. I’ll start by telling you a little about myself and how I work, and I’ll explain confidentiality and what you can expect from therapy, so you can decide whether I feel like the right fit.

Then I’ll invite you to share what brought you here, in whatever way feels comfortable. I’ll ask about your life, your relationships, your culture and background, and what’s been weighing on you, but you’re always in charge of how much you share and how fast. I’m also interested in your strengths and what has helped you get through hard times before, not just the struggles.

Together we’ll talk about what you’d like to change and what a good outcome would look like for you. By the end of the session, we’ll have a sense of your goals and a plan for how to start working toward them, whether that means building coping tools, making sense of the stories you’ve been carrying, or both. You’ll leave knowing what comes next, and you’re welcome to ask me anything along the way.
