Great to meet you!

Dr. Carol Chisanga, DNP-PMHNP-BC, Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or stuck? You don’t have to face it alone. I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment.

With over 14 years of experience in critical care and mental health, I take a holistic, patient-centered approach that considers the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship, understand your unique needs, and partner with you to create a treatment plan that supports real, lasting change.

I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, accurate diagnosis, medication management, and collaborative treatment planning. Together, we will explore treatment options that fit your goals, values, and lifestyle.

I help with: Anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, stress, life transitions, and medication management.

If you’re ready to take the next step toward healing, I would be honored to support you.

My approach to therapy

I believe healing begins with feeling truly heard and understood. I offer care with compassion, respect, and without judgment, meeting each person where they are. My approach is patient-centered and holistic, recognizing the connection between mind, body, and spirit.

Using the best available, evidence-based practices, I tailor care to each individual’s unique needs and experiences. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where patients feel empowered, cared for, and guided toward meaningful, positive change.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin creating a plan that supports your mental and emotional well-being. Many people feel nervous before their first appointment—this is completely normal. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, understood, and supported from the very beginning.

During this initial visit, we will:

  • Talk about what brought you in and what you hope to gain from treatment
  • Review your mental health history, current symptoms, and emotional concerns
  • Discuss your general health, medications, and any relevant life experiences
  • Explore how your concerns are affecting your daily life, relationships, and work
  • Identify strengths, challenges, and areas of focus
  • Begin developing a diagnosis and a personalized treatment plan
  • Review treatment options, which may include therapy, medication management, or a combination of approaches
  • Establish goals and discuss next steps, including follow-up appointments

This session is a collaborative conversation, not a test or evaluation. You are always encouraged to ask questions, share openly, and move at a pace that feels right for you.

My role is to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and supported as you take the first step toward feeling better.
