I am a NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Latina and a second generation immigrant. My cultural background provides me with an immense sense of gratitude, humbleness, and purpose, to not only serve those in my community, but people of all types of different cultures seeking help. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. My areas of focus vary but are not limited to depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, ADHD, LGBTQ+, and trauma.
My approach is to develop a trusting therapeutic alliance overtime, build rapport and meet the client where they are. Learning about the clients challenges, strengths, resilience and background history allows me to assist them in achieving their goals through client centered, culturally sensitive and solution focused approaches. Assuring that the space being provided consist of no judgment, open mindedness, understanding and mutual respect. Positive change, and healthy boundaries are encouraged.
I have hope that the sessions provided will remind the client that they are not alone and are worthy of receiving the care they deserve. It is important to process the cause behind the negative experience or feeling they are having, pinpoint the possible trigger behind it, and develop coping skills to help deal with it. Improving self-awareness, positive thinking, and self-care through supportive counseling and education will allow for personal growth and positive change to take place.
