Great to meet you!

Empowering Growth Through Compassionate, Personalized Therapy

Welcome to Free Your Mind Counseling, where healing meets authenticity. My practice is founded on the belief that every individual deserves a safe and supportive space to heal, grow, and thrive. I provide personalized, culturally responsive therapy for trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions—grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration.

I specialize in existential, eclectic, and integrative therapies, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, and Experiential frameworks. This flexible, holistic approach allows me to meet clients where they are—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method.

My academic foundation includes a Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Juvenile Justice. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and bring over a decade of experience in the criminal justice system, substance use recovery programs, and diverse mental health settings.

I am also completing my Doctoral degree at Houston Christian University in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, majoring in Executive Mental Health and Human Services—a reflection of my commitment to advancing mental health leadership and community impact.

My philosophy centers on helping clients discover purpose, balance, and self-acceptance through integrative, trauma-informed care. I believe in engaging deeply—not just listening, but empowering transformation. My mission is to create a nonjudgmental space where healing isn’t just possible—it’s expected.

My approach to therapy

At Free Your Mind Counseling, therapy is a collaborative journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. My approach is integrative, compassionate, and culturally responsive, designed to meet each client where they are—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I believe that healing should be as unique as the individual, and my goal is to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, seen, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward change.

I draw from existential, eclectic, and integrative frameworks, using evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Humanistic, and Experiential approaches. This allows me to tailor treatment plans to the specific needs and strengths of each client rather than rely on a single model. Together, we explore thought patterns, emotional barriers, and core beliefs to foster deeper self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal empowerment.

My work is deeply rooted in trauma-informed and holistic care—acknowledging the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Whether you are recovering from trauma, navigating grief, managing anxiety or depression, or adjusting to a major life transition, I aim to help you rebuild a sense of safety, balance, and purpose.

As a therapist, I am not a distant observer—I am an active partner in your healing process. I listen with empathy, challenge with compassion, and guide with intention. Through our work, clients learn to uncover their strengths, redefine their narratives, and develop the confidence to face life’s uncertainties with resilience and clarity.

Ultimately, my approach is about empowering transformation through understanding, acceptance, and actionable growth. I honor each client’s individuality and cultural identity, ensuring that therapy is not only effective but also affirming, inclusive, and deeply personal.

What you can expect from me

What to Expect in Your First Session

Your first session at Free Your Mind Counseling is the beginning of a collaborative journey toward healing, clarity, and growth. From the moment you walk in—or log in virtually—you can expect a calm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment designed to help you feel safe, heard, and supported.

The initial session is primarily about connection and understanding. We’ll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your personal goals, and begin identifying the patterns, stressors, or experiences that may be impacting your well-being. This is also your opportunity to ask questions, share your hopes for therapy, and set the tone for how you’d like our work together to feel.

Rather than diving straight into “fixing,” I focus on building trust and establishing emotional safety—the foundation of effective therapy. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan rooted in evidence-based, integrative approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, and Existential techniques. My aim is to meet you exactly where you are, offering tools and insight that align with your values, identity, and lived experience.

By the end of your first session, you can expect to leave with a sense of direction, clarity about next steps, and the reassurance that you’re not walking this path alone. My goal is for every client to feel empowered to begin their healing process with confidence and hope.
