Great to meet you!

My name is NaKendra Kinard, My pronouns are She/Her. I received a Master of Science Degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix in 2011, and a Master of Social Work Degree in Social Work from Winthrop University in 2014. I have experience in working in the field of substance use and mental health, with settings to include residential psychiatric treatment facilities, outpatient treatment settings, and school settings providing individual, group, and family therapy services through the usage of evidenced based practices.

My approach to therapy

My evidenced-based treatment modalities of choice include but aren’t limited to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Person-Centered Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Play Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.

What you can expect from me

I always begin with a rapport building session, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your story and what you hope to achieve in therapy. We’ll work together to figure out a plan! I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that helps you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure. From there, we’ll work collaboratively in the sessions that follow to help you gain skills to make these goals a reality for you.
