Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Nakia Holton, LPC, NCC. I work with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns. I know starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are without judgment. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth while also helping you work toward meaningful growth and change. My background includes experience in outpatient, inpatient, and correctional mental health settings, where I’ve worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds facing a wide range of emotional and life challenges.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe therapy should feel like a partnership where you feel safe, supported, and able to show up authentically without judgment. I understand that everyone’s experiences and needs are different, so I tailor sessions to your goals, strengths, and personal experiences. I draw from person-centered and CBT-informed approaches to help you better understand patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building healthier coping skills and emotional awareness. My goal is to help you feel empowered, gain insight, and create meaningful change that supports your overall well-being and everyday life.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, personal history, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable being yourself. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share any concerns, and determine whether I feel like a good fit for your needs and goals.
