Great to meet you!

I'm Nakia, a licensed clinical social worker and medical social worker since 2013. After

experiencing loss at a young age, it was a school counselor who helped me finally process that

grief. The way she showed up for me is exactly why I do this work. My calling in life is to show up

for people when they need me most, the way that counselor showed up for me when I needed it

most. I am here to help you navigate through life's happenings, and I would love to be that

person for you.

My approach to therapy

My priority in every session is to find out what matters most to you. What do you want to work

on? What do you identify as the issues? If there are several things, we work together to prioritize

and set achievable goals. I typically start with the easier pieces first, because knocking one thing

off builds the confidence and momentum to take on the next. I draw from cognitive behavioral

therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy, and a strength-based lens, pulling together what

you tell me, what I know how to get for you, and your own support system. Most people are just

waiting for someone to stop and truly listen, rather than being told what to do. That is always

where I start.

What you can expect from me

Your first session really is just a conversation. “Hi, I'm Nakia. How are you feeling today?” and we

go from there. No pressure to have all the answers, no judgment. Just two people talking about

what matters to you and figuring out together how I can best support you. Most people leave

feeling heard for the first time in a long while, on a path towards healing, and knowing they'll be

heard again and again. If this sounds like something you need, I'd love to meet you. Schedule

some time with me so we can talk.
