Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Nancy Cortez, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I earned my M.Ed. in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and have been passionate about helping people grow and heal ever since. I’m excited to be here and look forward to working together in a space that feels safe, supportive, and encouraging. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and empowered every step of the way.

My approach to therapy

I work with clients in a warm, collaborative way that helps them feel safe, heard, and respected. My style is supportive and down-to-earth, while also helping you build practical skills to manage stress, strengthen relationships, and navigate life’s challenges. I often focus on concerns such as anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, and self-esteem, tailoring our work to your unique needs and goals. Together, we move at a pace that feels comfortable while building insight, resilience, and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, relaxed space where you can share at your own pace without pressure or judgment. We’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope will feel different moving forward. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, and supports so we can begin identifying goals that feel meaningful and realistic to you. By the end of the session, most clients leave with a clearer sense of direction and the comfort of knowing they have a supportive partner in the process.
