Great to meet you!

Maybe it started as anxiety, the kind that sits in your chest before you've even opened your eyes in the morning. Or maybe it was something that happened a long time ago that you thought you'd moved past, until you noticed it showing up in your relationships, your drinking, your sleep, your ability to just feel okay on a regular Tuesday. A lot of people who find their way to therapy aren't in crisis. They're just tired of carrying something that's gotten heavier than it used to be, and tired of the ways they've been managing it. If that's where you are, whether you're sorting through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or a complicated relationship with alcohol or substances, you're not unusual. And you're not out of options..

My approach to therapy

I've spent the last six years doing this work, and substance use is where a lot of my heart is. Not because I have a fixed idea of what recovery should look like for you, but because I don't. My approach is person-centered — I meet you where you're at, not where I think you should be. That might mean structure and tools one week and just room to think out loud the next. For trauma specifically, there's also the option to work through it using an approach that helps the nervous system process what words alone sometimes can't reach. Nelson Mandela once said it always seems impossible until it's done — I think about that a lot in this work. Change rarely looks dramatic while it's happening. It usually looks like showing up, again, to the same hard conversation, until one day it isn't hard anymore.

What you can expect from me

If you're reading this and thinking "I should probably do something about this," that thought is worth following. Getting started doesn't require having it all figured out. The first session isn't an intake form or a deep dive into your worst memories. It's a conversation about what's going on, what you're hoping for, and what getting there might look like — at your own pace, nothing faster than you're ready for. Sessions are virtual, which means no commute, no waiting room, and no reason to put it off.
