Great to meet you!

Please call for an appointment, I do not use an online calendar for booking.

My approach is accepting, caring, confidential and non-judgmental, as well as practical and grounded.

Whatever your difficulties, I will listen to try to understand who you are, and what you are needing as you go forward.

Many people are looking for clarity, balancing of care for others with care for self, support through suffering and loss, or recovery from trauma or painful experiences. Therapy can help with these issues.

I work with individuals, couples, teens and families on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and developing more trust and acceptance, to improve closeness and positive feelings in relationships.

My approach to therapy

Primarily our sessions will consist of talking together, exploring your thoughts, ideas and feelings, and coming up with creative solutions to problems. Occasionally I will offer informational handouts on your specific issues, but the therapy is primarily in office, not a lot of take home exercises. Therapy is an experiential process - the experience of being here, talking and sharing and exploring ideas, can activate the healing and of issues and bring forward creative ideas for making life better.

I offer a specialty called Sandplay therapy. This is a non-verbal therapy for expressing ideas, impressions and feelings, using images, symbols and sand. Sometimes it's difficult to talk about our pain. Using figures in the sand can provide a way to express what is inside. Sandplay also stimulates neural connections in the brain, and activates healing.

I have experience in working with a variety of issues, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self- esteem, loss and grieving, weight and eating issues, trauma, PTSD, marriage, divorce, family conflict, high stress work problems, spiritual issues, and identity development. I also specialize in creative arts issues.

What you can expect from me

The first session we will discuss your concerns, and I will ask you a little bit about your life and history. You need only talk about what is comfortable for you, my office is a safe place. If the first session feels helpful, we can make a plan for regular sessions, and discuss your goals for therapy.
