Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Nancy V. Rivera, MSW, LCSW, founder of Cactus Heart Counseling LLC. With over 18 years of experience, I provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapy for teens, adults, and older adults. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief, and perinatal mental health. Inspired by the resilience of the Arizona desert, I believe healing is possible in every season of life. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to heal, grow, and thrive.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is a collaborative, patient-centered process built on trust, compassion, and respect. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and tailored to your unique strengths, needs, and goals. I integrate evidence-based therapies, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy to help you heal from trauma, navigate life's challenges, and build resilience. Together, we'll work at your pace in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where meaningful growth and lasting change are possible.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your personal history, current concerns, strengths, and goals. I'll answer any questions you have about the therapy process and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable from the very beginning.
