ABOUT ME

I’m Nancy Van Wyk, a clinical mental health counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) specializing in military family culture, equine-facilitated psychotherapy, and integrative individual therapy. Before licensure, I've had over 20 years of expereince working with clients in mental health. My work is grounded in systems-based, trauma-informed care, honoring how service-related experiences like deployment cycles, reintegration stress, and moral injury can shape identity, trust, communication, and family roles.

I am an LMFT and LPC. I also hold an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University and I’m currently completing a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Military Family Culture. My additional training includes PsychArmor courses, Center for Deployment Psychology coursework, and advanced trauma-informed training through The Healing Path Project, with a specific focus on moral injury.

I am licensed in Pennsylvania (PC018118) and provide telehealth in South Carolina (2424), Florida (TPMC7168), and Idaho (6271591).

My approach to therapy

In individual therapy, I integrate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients build on strengths while compassionately understanding the protective and wounded “parts” that influence emotions and behavior. The goal is practical change with depth, more regulation, clearer relationships, and a steadier, Self-led way of moving through life.

What you can expect from me

Alongside traditional talk therapy, I offer equine-facilitated psychotherapy, an experiential, clinically guided approach that uses intentional interaction with horses to support emotional regulation, self-awareness, boundaries, and relational growth. Safety, ethical practice, and respect for both client and equine welfare are central to every session.
