Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Nancy Velez, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a deep passion for supporting individuals through trauma and life’s challenges. I specialize in trauma-informed care and have experience working with a diverse range of individuals, including children, families, military veterans, first responders, immigrant communities, migrant children, and individuals living with HIV.

With 15 years of experience as a Child Protective Services Investigator, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with families facing difficult and often traumatic situations, such as court hearings, foster care placements, and family separations. This background gives me a unique understanding of the emotional and logistical challenges that families face.

I also work with veterans in a retreat setting, providing support for PTSD and have helped many individuals living with HIV navigate their own unique challenges. My approach is always compassionate, non-judgmental and focused on fostering healing and growth.

I offer therapy sessions via telehealth and am available for home visits. To accommodate your schedule I am available most weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.

My approach to therapy

I use evidence-based therapies such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) among other modalities to help you process and heal from trauma, anxiety, and emotional challenges. In our sessions, you'll experience a supportive, non-judgmental space where you are encouraged to explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace. I focus on empowering you to understand your emotions, build resilience, and develop practical coping strategies that can be applied in your everyday life. Together, we’ll work on identifying your goals and creating a path toward healing that feels right for you. Every step of the way, I’ll be by your side, supporting your growth and healing.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave our sessions with a deeper understanding of themselves and the tools to navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and valued. Together, we will work on building resilience, managing emotions and developing practical coping strategies. You can expect to gain clarity, self-awareness and confidence in your ability to handle difficult situations. Whether we are processing past trauma, addressing anxiety or strengthening relationships. Our work will focus on empowering you to move forward with a sense of healing, growth and purpose.
