Great to meet you!

I believe in the benefits of therapy because I have experienced the first hand healing that comes from doing the therapeutic work with a trusted professional. This process takes courage. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider Designation, a National Board Certified Counselor, and a Registered Play Therapist. I have been in the field for 10 years and have worked with a range of ages, but now specialize in children and adolescents from ages 2 to 18. I am also passionate about walking alongside parents and caregivers to help them better understand their child and add tools to their tool kit. There might not be a manual to navigate the challenges of parenting but you certainly don't have to do it alone.

My approach to therapy

I want my clients to feel safe, informed, and comfortable in my office. No matter what age. I am a Person-Centered therapist which means I aim to know who you are, what you need, and where you hope to go in the process of therapy. Before we dive deep into the therapeutic work, my priority is to earn your trust. From there, we create a unique treatment plan that moves at your pace and readiness. I use Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy Principles to help children and teens identify triggers, emotions, and coping skills. I also use a technique called Sandtray Therapy which is an evidence based approach to treating trauma, anxiety, and depression across the lifespan. For children younger than 7 years old, I primarily speak a child's language of play which means we process life events, emotions, and coping through play based modalities like art, board games, puppets, and other interactive activities.

What you can expect from me

We will meet together for an intake and assessment session where you can get to know me, and I can get to know what you need. If you are a parent, this session will take place without your child of focus. I will review the phasing of therapy and what you can expect, including the timeline for parent meetings and when you can begin to see some progress. It is a priority to me that we take time to answer your questions and address any concerns you might have. Once I complete the initial intake with parents and caregivers, I begin to meet individually with my child client. This is my favorite part of therapy! I get genuinely excited to meet the person you have told me all about.
