Great to meet you!

With empathy, compassion, humor, and a wide range of experience and education throughout my career, I help clients navigate through their healing, so that they begin to live their best lives.

Before beginning my Telehealth practice, I was employed by a variety of agencies, treating different types of populations, including 6 years as a therapist and group leader in addiction and recovery. This experience helped me to better understand trauma work, and I incorporate many techniques that can help with emotional dysregulation.

I practice what I preach, and live the life that I encourage my client's to live--one of authenticity, commitment to personal growth and health, friends and family, and engagement with the activities that fill my "emotional teacup".

A bit about my approach to therapy

As a practitioner for over 20 years, I have many approaches that I use to promote change. Some methods include Psychodynamic to understand the problems and symptoms in context of your history; Dialectic Behavioral Therapy to manage anxiety and depression; CBT for unhelpful thought patterns; Grief Processing, a structured exercise that helps with loss and grief; and Motivational Interviewing and Trauma informed therapy to help support recovery from addiction and other self-sabotaging behaviors. How people change, and what they need in order to change, is the challenge to identify, and with years of experience, I have a good sense of how to pilot towards identifying what needs to heal so that change can take place.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients will feel seen, heard, and understood with the support, feedback, and gentle confrontation that I give. Many report feeling better during or after each session, even when they are working through difficult or sad emotions. By the end of treatment, I often see overall improvements with emotional regulation, mood, anxiety level, substance use/abuse, self-esteem, and relationship skills.

Clients will have practical solutions for what they are presenting, and if the issues are complex, such as childhood trauma, they will feel as if they have a smart friend by their side, helping them to process the past, so they can live a more satisfying life in the present.

Throughout treatment, I send illustrations, videos and other visuals to help with understanding how to change, and have dozens of books I can recommend for additional learning.
