Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Dr. Nathan Lamkin, a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges, rediscover their innate resilience, and increase daily happiness. My background is highly diverse: years as a college professor, psychologist for Ohio Army National Guard, work in college counseling center, nursing homes, and psychiatric hospital. Personally, my contemplative nature led me to live at a Buddhist monastery for a year and spend time meditating at a Christian monastery, experiences that heavily shape my grounded, relaxed, and accessible presence in therapy. In our work together, I blend deep compassion with genuine honesty to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and relationships shape your unique story.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is highly collaborative, integrative, and tailored entirely to your unique life story rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Because psychological research consistently shows that a strong therapeutic relationship is the best predictor of a positive outcome, my primary focus is on building a genuine, trusted human rapport. Within that safe connection, I am an active participant in our sessions, providing honest feedback and practical insights rather than just quietly listening. To guide this work, I dynamically draw from a diverse toolbox—including ACT, CBT, psychodynamic, Jungian, interpersonal, and contemplative psychology—to help you build sustainable psychological strength and daily peace.
