Great to meet you!

I’m Nate Mellum, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP) and the founder of Mellum Family Psychiatry. I provide personalized care for children, teens, and adults, combining evidence-based treatment with warmth, kindness, and humor when it is appropriate. My style is approachable yet no-nonsense—I believe in being genuine and practical while helping clients move toward lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach with clients is to be curious, deep, and thoughtful, with an emphasis on psychotherapy alongside medication management when needed. I try to take the time to understand my clients’ stories, values, and goals, even when we're only adjusting medication. I aim to create a space that is supportive, honest, and growth-oriented, where kindness and humor meet a straightforward, practical approach to healing.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my primary goal is to establish a strong rapport and create a comfortable, collaborative environment. I take time to complete a thorough history so I can understand your background, experiences, and goals. When possible, we also begin outlining a treatment plan together to ensure we’re aligned, though sometimes a follow-up session is needed to fully develop this plan.
