Great to meet you!

Hello My name is Neil Corriston. I'm a School Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor with experience supporting individuals through a wide range of life challenges. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) and my Master's degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC).

I work with adolescents, young adults, and middle-aged adults, providing a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore concerns, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful goals.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy starts with understanding how you see the world. I'm naturally curious and want to learn how you think, what matters to you, and what goals you have for yourself. My approach is down-to-earth, nonjudgmental, and grounded in the belief that we're all human beings trying to navigate life's challenges as best we can.

I work primarily with teens and adolescents but also support adults through midlife. Whether you're looking for a supportive space to process life's challenges or a more goal-oriented approach, we'll work together to find what fits your needs. My practice name ChaptersNKC reflects my belief that everyone has a story and we can work together to write the next one. Reaching out can be difficult, and I'm glad you've taken that step.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine whether we're a good fit. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your background, current challenges, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood. By the end of our first session, we'll have a better understanding of your needs and begin discussing possible goals and next steps. Whether you're seeking support through a difficult time or working toward specific changes, we'll collaborate on a path forward that makes sense for you.
