Great to meet you!

My name is Neil (Nahum) Spirn. My professional education includes a Master's in mental health counseling, and I hold a certificate in addictions, along with many other trainings. I spent many years as a teacher and even as a rabbi (which explains my passion for helping families)!

I bring to the therapy relationship an accepting, connecting, non-judgmental attitude, which I also encourage people to adopt toward themselves!

A bit about my approach to therapy

I have an eclectic approach to therapy; every client is unique and gets treated with a unique blend of modalities. Cognitive (how we think about things), behavioral (new ways of doing things), and insight-oriented (understanding ourselves and others better) approaches are all included.

I am especially attuned to hurtful/traumatic life experiences and offer tools to address the painful emotional and physical effects of such experiences (using Internal Family Systems and the Sarno method).

What you can expect from our first session

You can expect to feel that you have someone on your side and are not alone.

You can expect to feel better about yourself and more hopeful.

You can expect to gain insights into your inner and outer worlds.

You can expect to learn more effective ways of interacting with friends or family who may be giving you a hard time.

You can expect to feel understood, validated, and supported, and a sense of connection to a therapist who cares.
