Great to meet you!

Seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, especially when you've struggled to find someone who genuinely listens and understands what you're experiencing. Whether you're navigating mental health challenges for the first time or searching for a provider who values your voice, you deserve to feel seen, heard, and respected.

I'm Dr. Nia Broussard, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I specialize in helping adults seeking psychiatric care for anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Whether you're experiencing difficulty managing your emotions, struggling with daily functioning, or seeking ongoing psychiatric medication management, I'm here to support you.

My background in emergency and psychiatric nursing has taught me that compassionate care begins with listening, understanding, and treating every individual with dignity. I believe mental health care should never feel like a one-sided conversation. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable expressing your concerns, asking questions, and actively participating in your treatment decisions.

Your voice matters, your experiences matter, and you deserve to be an active partner in your mental health care.

My approach to therapy

My approach to psychiatric care is centered on compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based medication management. I believe effective mental health treatment begins with understanding you as a whole person, not simply focusing on a diagnosis. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in every decision regarding your care.

I specialize in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacology, medication management, and psychoeducation. During our appointments, I use structured psychiatric assessments and clinical interviews to understand your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, daily functioning, and treatment goals. We will discuss potential diagnoses, explore appropriate medication options, and review the benefits, risks, and possible side effects of treatment.

I incorporate shared decision-making by encouraging you to express your preferences, ask questions, and participate in developing your individualized treatment plan. Through psychoeducation, I help you understand your diagnosis, recognize symptoms, and learn what to expect from prescribed medications.

During follow-up appointments, we will evaluate your progress, review medication effectiveness, address side effects or concerns, and adjust treatment when clinically appropriate.

My experience in emergency and psychiatric nursing has reinforced the importance of compassionate, individualized care. I strive to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable discussing your concerns and confident that your voice is an essential part of your treatment.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is a chance for us to get to know one another, understand your concerns, and begin building a treatment plan together. We will meet virtually in a private, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences at your own pace. I understand that meeting a new psychiatric provider can feel intimidating, especially if you've previously felt unheard or misunderstood. My goal is to make this experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible. During our initial psychiatric evaluation, we'll discuss your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, current medications, and personal goals. I'll explain my clinical recommendations, answer your questions, and discuss available treatment options, including medication management when appropriate. You will always have a voice in your care, and we will work collaboratively to determine the next steps. Above all, I want you to leave our first appointment feeling genuinely seen, heard, respected, and confident that your mental health matters.
