Great to meet you!

Hi I'm Nia! Black queer woman therapist who believe safety, choice, empowerment, and collaboration are the foundation for an enriching therapeutic experience. I am passionate about working with people from diverse cultures, ethnicities, and sexual orientations navigate relationships and challenges related to trauma, racial and gender identity, self-esteem, social and cultural stress, family of origin, depression, anxiety, family dynamics, and life transitions.

I am dedicated to assisting people who feel ready to deepen their understanding of all parts of themselves, cultivate fulfilling relationships, and find (or rediscover) pleasure, balance, and joy in their lives!

My approach to therapy

My approach is affirming, collaborative, creative, and rooted in honoring your full humanity. I draw from various therapy models to support your inner strengths and intersectional identities while staying connected to your present needs and therapeutic goals. In session, we may explore identity, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, family patterns, social stress, cultural experiences, and the ways your past and present systems have shaped how you move through the world!

My style is nonjudgmental, warm, and lovingly challenging. I often bring humor, imagination, body-based interventions, and artistic expression into the work when it feels supportive. I believe therapy can be a space where you are not asked to shrink, explain away, or separate parts of yourself, but instead are invited to understand, honor, and care for the many layers of who you are.

What you can expect from me

First sessions allow me to understand you with more depth and nuance than an intake form can provide. This can look like exploration of your joy, history, present challenges, and relationships with various systems you are a part of (ex. family, culture, society). We will collaboratively discuss goals and what safety/support throughout the process might look like. I hope you can feel into whether or not we're a good therapeutic match.
