Great to meet you!

I’m Niajcia, a Licensed Professional Counselor committed to providing compassionate, individualized care to children, adolescents, and young adults. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to work through life’s challenges.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2017, followed by my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from UW–Madison in 2019. Since completing my graduate degree, I have continued to expand my clinical training and experience in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), suicide prevention and intervention, and adoption and foster care.

My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I work with clients to develop healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, build self-awareness, and recognize their individual strengths. I also value collaboration with parents and caregivers when appropriate to support meaningful progress beyond therapy.

I believe every client has a unique story, and therapy should meet them where they are.

Healing starts with being heard.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is creative, strengths-based, and individualized. I believe therapy does not have to look the same for everyone. I incorporate art, games, storytelling, and age-appropriate activities to help clients express themselves, build trust, and engage in the therapeutic process in ways that feel natural and comfortable.

I also believe in recognizing and celebrating the positives. I help clients identify their strengths, accomplishments, and progress while developing healthy coping skills and greater emotional intelligence.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I’ll spend time learning about your child or teen, what brings them to therapy, their strengths, interests, and the areas where they may need support.

I understand that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable, especially for children and teens. I don’t expect clients to share everything right away. Instead, I focus on creating a comfortable environment where they can begin opening up at their own pace.

Depending on the client, I may use art, games, storytelling, or other creative activities to help make the first session engaging and age-appropriate. I also look for opportunities to recognize strengths and positives from the very beginning.

Parents and caregivers can expect to be included in the process when appropriate. We’ll discuss concerns, goals for therapy, and ways we can work together to support your child outside of sessions.

Most importantly, the first session is about connection, understanding, and creating a foundation for our work together.

There is no pressure to have all the answers. We’ll take it one step at a time.
