Nicholas Gordo Ciapala

I am a mental health counselor based in Ohio; having obtained both my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees at Youngstown State University (YSU). I am also a registered nurse, with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, also through YSU.

My career in mental health began in 2019 while working with youth in a Juvenile Detention Facility. The pull to help others led me back to school to become a therapist, and I have been trained in EMDR in order to focus on trauma in treatment.

I utilize an integrated approach, melding attributes from various modalities, such as:

• Narrative Therapy
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)
• Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

In your first session, we will focus on getting to know you, reviewing any relevant background, and discussing what brings you to therapy in a safe, judgment-free space. We’ll clarify your personal goals and map out what working together might look like, all while moving completely at a pace you are comfortable with. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to, as this initial time is primarily about ensuring we are a good fit and helping you feel grounded and supported. Above all, you can expect a warm, collaborative environment focused entirely on your needs.
