Great to meet you!

My clinical approach is trauma-informed and acknowledges the larger systems at play that people may have had no choice but to respond to.

  • Past experience includes intensive crisis support to adolescents and teens who continue to navigate the harmful impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Outside of my practice, I am a supervisor at a mental health clinic and work with a smaller caseload of clients from all ages and backgrounds.
  • I have extensive experience in providing comprehensive mental health support to LGBTQ+ clients.
  • I provide educational workshops to parents, families, and local community organizations on mental health and self-care. My role as a therapist includes advocacy in the community to both raise awareness to mental illness and work towards community-based solutions that alleviate some of these hardships. I believe the work in therapy reflects the health of a community and issues like substance dependence and mental illness are by extension systemic problems a city faces.

My approach to therapy

I help my clients thread the narratives in their experiences through warmth, humor, and affirmation.

  • I believe therapy is a working partnership and should be collaborative. I like to think I'm laid-back and funny and that has helped my clients to feel comfortable and supported in session because the work can be difficult, especially if you're starting therapy for the first time. Many of my clients are men who have never considered therapy before and are (understandably) skeptical of it. I think my approach helps clients ease into therapy.
  • I think I often work with clients who are looking for clarity on managing their depression and anxiety symptoms and have felt frustrated by the external stresses that make that difficult. I also work with clients who have difficulty expressing themselves when angry. Anger is an important emotion but it's easy for people to only pay attention to the behavior and not the underlying issues that led to anger in the first place. I can help with finding that balance in healthy self-expression and communication with others.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is the practice of a good conversation. Through an affirmative & confidential space, we can work together to navigate personal hardship, gain clarity into what's most important to you, how you make sense of the world, and what meaning you gain from it.
