Great to meet you!

Hi everyone, a little bit about me, I am a master's level clinician and I have almost completed my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I am currently a therapist at a residential treatment facility and have been for about 3 years. I am experienced in working with anxiety, anger, depression, and adjustment issues. I am currently an instructor of counseling at a university and I do supervision with counselors in training.

My approach to therapy

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I believe that our ability to make progress through difficult experiences is heavily influenced by the beliefs we hold. CBT is an ideal therapy because these beliefs are also connected to what we feel and what we do. By accounting for these three important areas we are leaving no stones left unturned. I have worked with individuals for 3 years utilizing this model to help them be honest with themselves about what is going wrong and identifying what they can do about it. This is a straightforward model, easy to disconfirm or confirm its usefulness, and it is also extremely powerful when used in the context of a trusting therapeutic relationship.

What you can expect from me

In the first session we will get to know each other enough so that you can decide if this is worth the shot. I will gauge the best to see what your level of comfort with sharing is. I recognize you may partly want to talk about things while at the same time are still unsure. I hope to match your pace and let you control the flow of the session.
