Nicole Cook

I am a Charleston native who attended College of Charleston to study Psychology and later on completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. The professional experience I've acquired through the years after working in mental health roles in different settings with great mentors and serving a diverse clientele, enables me to offer helpful guidance and support to all clients.

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over 17 years of experience in the mental health field. I've worked in multiple school-based positions, hospital settings, non-profits and outpatient agencies. I have experience working with all ages, but I'm passionate about helping adolescents and young adults work through challenges that arise during high school, college, and transitioning into the work world. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management, self-esteem, focus/concentration, anger management and life transitions.

Central to my therapeutic approach is the belief that the counseling process is a collaborative alliance, with clients considered experts in their own lives. Within this framework, clients can access their inner strengths to promote positive change. I utilize various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psycho-Educational Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

I believe that you are the expert on your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. My goal is to assist clients with identifying stressors, skills and strategies to overcome those challenges and accomplish their goals.
