Great to meet you!

Nicole Joseph, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Your Fresh Start Therapy. She holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Organizational Leadership at South College.

Nicole has extensive experience working in community mental health, school-based counseling, and private practice settings. Her professional background includes providing individual, family, and group counseling services, developing treatment plans, facilitating psychoeducational workshops, and supporting clients through life transitions and emotional challenges.

She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, stress management, anger management, grief and loss, self-esteem concerns, behavioral challenges, and adjustment difficulties. Nicole works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, including court-involved youth and individuals seeking support for personal growth, emotional regulation, and healthier relationships.

Services are offered through both in-person and virtual sessions, providing flexible options to meet clients where they are in their healing journey. Nicole is committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can build resilience, develop effective coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and positive change when provided with the right support and tools. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and client-centered, meaning I work alongside my clients to help them identify strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their personal goals.

I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. I understand that each person's experiences are unique, so I tailor treatment to meet individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

My work incorporates evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed interventions. Together, we explore patterns of thinking, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences that may be contributing to current difficulties while building practical skills for lasting change.

I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger management issues, grief and loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, and behavioral concerns. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, and create meaningful, sustainable progress toward the life they want to live.

I view therapy as a partnership and consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate life's challenges and discover their path toward healing and wellness.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, collaborative relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, the challenges you're facing, and what you hope to achieve through our work together.

I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, health, and other areas that may be relevant to understanding your situation. You're welcome to share at your own pace—there is no pressure to tell your entire story in one session.

We'll also review important information such as confidentiality, practice policies, and any questions you may have about the therapy process. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and discussing possible approaches that may be helpful for your needs.

Most clients leave the first session with a better understanding of how therapy can support them and a sense of what our work together may look like moving forward.
