Great to meet you!

My name is Nicole Sullivan, PhD and I am licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have a Doctor of Philosophy in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I have been practicing in the field for over 22 years in a variety of settings from direct care and crisis intervention, to program management, clinical supervision, and program evaluation.

I strongly believe that every client who presents for treatment has the ability and basic fundamental knowledge of how to resolve their problems, what works best for them, and is capable of making their own decisions. No matter one’s path in life, times can sometimes get hard and while most times people can effectively resolve their own issues, there are other times where they need help from a compassionate and experienced therapist to develop an increased sense of self awareness in order to find a solution that will bring them to a place of peace. I believe therapy requires a collaborative approach, and we will work together to achieve your goals.

My approach to therapy

I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and incorporate solution-focused and existential models into treatment.

What you can expect from me

At your initial appointment, we will spend time exploring the issues you'd like to address and begin to identify some of your goals that you look forward to achieving. Our collaborative approach will help to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and confidence so that you feel safe and open to work through challenges using different skills, tools and techniques.
