Nikesha Abdool

I am a licensed and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with advanced training from New York University’s Rory Meyers College of Nursing. I specialize in providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adults of all ages through my part-time private therapy practice in New York State. My clinical work focuses on treating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and substance abuse.

I completed the one year psychoanalytic training at the William Alanson White Institute, CBT training at the Beck Institute, and Somatic Attachment Therapy training at the Embody Lab. and Additionally, I am in the process of completing a specialized training program at the William Institute for Eating Disorders, Compulsions, and Addictions.

I approach each patient as a unique individual and tailor the patient's care accordingly using a combination of medication management and/or psychotherapy. I utilize an integrative approach using a combination of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, attachment therapy, behavioral and somatic interventions. The treatment provided is holistic as I treat all areas impacted by the issues we are working one. I also incorporate complementary and alternative medicine options into treatment as appropriate.

With the collaborative approach to identify goals and a treatment plan that meets ones individuals needs, we work to achieve a higher level of functioning through understanding and awareness.
