Great to meet you!

I am a Texas-licensed professional counselor with experience in hospital behavioral health, substance-use treatment, and individual and group counseling. I earned a Master of Science from Prairie View A&M University, where my clinical training included assessment, psychopathology, addiction, group therapy, and individual psychotherapy.

I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional distress, life transitions, relationship concerns, substance-use challenges, and recovery-related needs. My professional background includes working with clients in hospital, behavioral health, and substance-use treatment settings.

Clients often describe my style as calm, compassionate, patient, and easy to talk to. I understand that emotional health is connected to relationships, daily habits, physical well-being, culture, and life experiences. My background in community wellness, yoga, meditation, and laughter also supports my whole-person perspective. Above all, I want clients to feel respected, understood, and supported as they work toward meaningful and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, client-centered, practical, and strengths-based. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you understand what may be keeping you stuck, recognize your strengths, and develop realistic strategies for moving forward.

I use an eclectic, evidence-informed approach, which means I thoughtfully select and combine therapeutic techniques according to each client’s specific concerns, needs, personality, and goals. Rather than applying the same method to everyone, I adapt the therapeutic process to fit the problem and the individual.

Depending on your needs, I may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another; Solution-Focused Therapy to identify strengths, resources, and achievable next steps; and skills-based techniques for emotional regulation, stress management, mindfulness, coping, and healthier communication.

I balance thoughtful exploration with practical skill-building. Sessions may include examining patterns, developing coping and communication skills, processing difficult experiences, and creating manageable goals. When appropriate and comfortable for you, mindfulness, relaxation, meditation, and other wellness practices may also be incorporated.

Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. We will develop an approach that respects your values, culture, circumstances, pace, and personal goals.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a comfortable, structured opportunity for us to get to know one another and understand what brings you to therapy. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or having everything figured out.

I will invite you to share the concerns that feel most important, how they are affecting your life, what you have already tried, and what you hope to gain from counseling. We may also discuss relevant personal history, relationships, current stressors, coping strategies, support systems, and strengths. You are not expected to discuss anything before you feel ready.

We will review confidentiality, answer your questions, begin identifying treatment priorities, and discuss an initial plan tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, and clearer about how we can work together. It is also an opportunity for you to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.
