Great to meet you!

My name is Nivin Hamada and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an additional certification in Trauma-Focused Therapy. I have been in practice for 7 years, with experience in individual, couples, family and group therapy. I incorporate various modalities into my practice drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I work with couples from an EFT and strength based lens.

I specialize in helping individuals and partners reconnect with themselves and their partners by understanding the respective needs and wants of each individual. Whether you are facing conflict, life transitions or looking to strengthen your bond, I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore and overcome your challenges. Through my work, I've helped couples strengthen their communication skills, navigate cultural differences, and build resilience in their relationships. I have experience working with different cultural backgrounds and diverse relationship structures.

My approach to therapy

I collaborate with individuals, specifically younger and middle-aged adults, through life transitions and hardships using my multicultural perspective. My main area of focus is working with those struggling with anxiety, depression, mood regulation, ADHD, anger management, family issues, maternal mental health, panic disorder, PTSD, and self-esteem issues. I have worked with survivors of sexual and physical assaults and survivors of domestic violence, helping them with gaining control of their lives again and putting them back in the driver's seat. I also work with those who are single parents as well as clients trying to figure out their goals and aspirations while managing anxiety. I hope to relate to my clients while they are navigating life and everything that comes with it.

What you can expect from me

Using a trauma-focused lens, I take into consideration generational and past traumas to understand how it impacts day-to-day life and the way we interact in the world. I believe in meeting all clients where they are at, fostering a non-judgmental and safe environment to be their authentic self. Most of my work is also driven by EFT, with the goal of helping clients better understand and sit with their emotions. From there, through the use of CBT, I aim to help drive change to motivate client's meet their goals.

I believe that when starting therapy it is important that you choose someone that you feel comfortable with and trust. To me, a successful therapist/client relationship is one that is interactive and collaborative.
