Great to meet you!

How I Work

I’m Dr. Nona Kocher, a board-certified psychiatrist licensed in both Florida and New York. I welcome teens and adults (13+) and specialize in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, panic disorder, OCD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and schizophrenia—along with these disorders during pregnancy.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn next?

Whether it’s persistent depression that drains your energy, anxiety, or OCD, that won’t let you rest, or ADHD that disrupts your focus and follow-through—you’re not alone. Many people also struggle in silence with panic attacks, insomnia, intrusive thoughts, bipolar symptoms, schizophrenia, or mental health challenges during pregnancy. It can be confusing to know what’s happening—and even harder to know what to do about it.

That’s exactly where I can help.

My approach to therapy

I bring an empathetic, nonjudgmental approach to every session. I take time to listen deeply, understand all layers of your mental health, and work with you to find the right medication plan. I believe in being cautious about prescribing medication -- sometimes less medication is better than more.

Who I Help

I particularly enjoy working with people who are:

  • Trying to understand their diagnosis or treatment options more clearly
  • Exploring medication for the first time—or after a difficult experience
  • Pregnant or planning pregnancy and unsure about medication safety

My Background

I earned:

  • A B.A. from Bryn Mawr College
  • A Master’s of Public Health from UC Berkeley
  • A Medical Doctorate from St. George’s University
  • A Psychiatry Residency at Albany Medical College (NY)

My training equips me to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care, and I take pride in meeting each person exactly where they are.

Let’s Talk

Finding the right clinician can feel overwhelming—but it’s a powerful first step on the path to feeling better. If you’re ready to start making sense of your symptoms and explore whether medications, therapy, or newer treatments might help, I’m here to guide you.

Feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation or learn more. I look forward to meeting you.

What you can expect from me

I’ll thoroughly evaluate your mental status, and recommend a medication plan. If you’re seeking psychiatric care but are unsure whether medication is right for you, I also offer an “informational” session—where I walk you through everything from how medications and psychotherapy work to genetic testing, ADHD evaluations, and emerging treatments. There’s no pressure, just clarity and understanding, so you can make empowered choices about your care.
