Great to meet you!

My name is Norma Cabrera, and I bring over 33 years of experience as a dedicated school counselor, including 15 years as a Counseling Director. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling and am nearing completion of my Doctoral Degree. I specialize in Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, helping clients identify strengths, develop practical strategies, and create positive change. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative environment that empowers individuals to overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve personal growth.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, goal-oriented, and empowering. I believe each individual has the capacity for growth and positive change, and my role is to help clients uncover their inner strengths and build practical strategies for success. Using Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, I guide clients in identifying specific goals, challenging unhelpful thought patterns, and developing healthier ways of coping. Sessions are structured to promote clarity, self-awareness, and progress toward meaningful change. I also emphasize creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and motivated to take active steps toward their well-being and personal fulfillment.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment focused on getting to know them and understanding their goals. I’ll take time to learn about your background, current concerns, and what brought you to counseling. Together, we’ll discuss what you hope to achieve and begin outlining a plan that fits your needs. This session also provides an opportunity for you to ask questions, share expectations, and get comfortable with the process. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and empowered as we start building a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship.
