Great to meet you!

If you've been looking for a space where you can be honest, take your time, and feel genuinely heard, you're in the right place. I'm O'Shonda McDowell (LCSW), and I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, relationship challenges, life transitions, and self-esteem. I bring warmth, patience, and a collaborative approach to every session, because I believe lasting change happens when you feel truly understood. I believe therapy works best when clients feel heard, respected, and understood.

My clinical experience includes working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, self-esteem challenges, ADHD, and Autism. I also have experience providing clinical supervision and supporting developing clinicians in strengthening their confidence and therapeutic skills.

My approach is collaborative and individualized because I recognize that every person’s experiences, strengths, and needs are different. I work with clients to better understand the challenges they are experiencing, identify patterns that may be holding them back, develop practical coping strategies, and build on the strengths they already possess.

I strive to bring warmth, patience, empathy, and authenticity into each session. My goal is not only to help clients manage difficult symptoms, but also to help them feel more confident, empowered, and capable of creating meaningful change in their lives.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you create meaningful change in a way that feels realistic and manageable. I believe therapy should be a supportive, judgment-free space where you can be yourself, feel heard, and work through challenges at your own pace.

I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy into my work. CBT can help you recognize how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected, while Solution-Focused Therapy helps us identify your strengths, explore what is already working, and develop practical steps toward the changes you want to see.

I tailor therapy to each person rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, ADHD, Autism, relationship challenges, and emotional regulation.

Throughout our work together, I will support you while also encouraging growth and helping you develop tools you can use outside of therapy. My goal is to help you gain a better understanding of yourself, strengthen your coping skills, build confidence, and feel more empowered in your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. I understand that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming, so I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you can feel at ease.

We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, the areas where you would like support, and the goals that are most important to you. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet.

My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, supported, and confident as we begin your therapeutic journey together. When you feel ready, I would be honored to support you as you take this next step toward growth, healing, and meaningful change.
